Admin Tools

As with ANY BUSINESS, there are administrative details you need to tend to. The following items are food for thought.

Computer Security/Maintenance

  • Keep the programs on your computer up to date, including Windows.
    • Do you have Windows Update configured to automatically check for updates at least once a week?
  • Do you have software installed to scan for viruses and malware, as well as a firewall?
  • Do you defragment your hard drives? If you use your computer a lot, you should defragment your drives at least once a week. It will help keep all of the pieces of files together so your computer does not have to work so hard to open them for you.
    • Microsoft Windows has a Disk Defragmenter in the System Tools.

Speed Test

How many times have you fallen asleep waiting for files to download or webpages to fully display? Check your download and upload speeds here:

Anti-virus and Anti-Malware Software

There are lots of programs you can use to keep your computer safe. Most programs offer a FREE version, as well as a PAID version. It does not matter which version you use. What IS important is that YOU USE SOMETHING!

Comodo

I currently use Comodo software. The version I use costs $9.95 each year, and it can be used on up to 3 computers. CLICK HERE to go to Comodo’s website to look over what they have.

Lists

Lists are VERY important. If you do not create them AND keep them up to date, you will eventually realize how critically important they really were, after spending many frustrating hours trying to remember where something was, or how to log in to a site, or a hundred and one other things.

Daily Checklist
  • Make a list of the marketing tasks you need to do each day, especially the income-producing tasks.
    • Also include things you do on a less-frequent basis too (weekly, monthly, annually, etc.), so you do not forget to do them.
    • Make sure you DO at least one INCOME-GENERATING task EACH DAY, such as:
      • Contacting people on social media sites, like Facebook, Skype, Twitter, Instagram, etc.
      • Click on the credit links in safelist emails to earn credits so YOU can send emails to the safelist members.
      • Surf sites on traffic exchanges to earn credits for members to view YOUR ads.

Programs/Accounts

Make a list of key information about the programs you join. That also includes things like email accounts, payment processors, bank accounts, debit/credit card accounts; EVERYTHING! As a minimum, I recommend keeping track of these items.

    • The URL to log in
    • Your user name/ID
    • Your password
    • Security PIN
    • Contact email
    • Date you joined
    • Your referral/affiliate link
    • Who your sponsor is. (At least his/her name. Maybe also email address or Skype ID; a way to get in contact when you need help)

Useful Programs

Hide My Ass (HMA), a Virtual Private Network (VPN)

Typically, when you try to access a website on the internet, you start by connecting to your internet service provider (ISP). They redirect you to any websites (or other online resources) that you wish to visit. All your internet traffic passes through your ISP’s servers, which means they can see and log everything you do online. They may even hand your browsing history over to advertisers, government agencies, and other third parties.

Here’s where a VPN comes into play. It redirects your internet traffic through a specially configured remote server. This way, the VPN hides your IP address and encrypts all the data you send or receive. The encrypted data looks like gibberish to anyone who intercepts it — it is impossible to read.

HMA allows you to surf the web anonymously and securely from anywhere. It protects you by creating an encrypted tunnel that connects your computer to the internet, Wi‑Fi hotspots and other networks.
